International Student Orientation

International students will arrive mid-August to attend a special International Student Arrival Days prior to New Student Orientation. This program was developed to better acclimate international students to campus and provide resources to make their transition more seamless.

Program Goals
  • Assist with the acclimation process for international students before the start of New Student Orientation, when they will join with other members of the new class
  • Allow new international students time to adjust to a different time zone, language, and environment
  • Respond to the increasing number of international students to make these students feel special and welcome
  • Create programming designed to welcome new students to CWRU and prepare them for New Student Orientation so they can participate in group programs with both domestic and international students
  • Collaborate with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs to develop a unique transition experience that is meaningful, informative and engaging for new international students
  • Connect students with faculty and staff members early
  • Connect students with Orientation Leaders
  • Provide international programming (academic, social and practical) that focuses on specific challenges and areas of concern for international students
  • Organize off-campus excursions to expose students to the city of Cleveland
